The Heart of the Playroom: The Toy Hub!

At the heart of every grOH! design is the toy hub — a magical area with a rotating cast of open-ended toys that not only encourages kiddos to play, but also asks them to think about what and how they like to play!

The Toy Hub is the home for all of the toys that are currently active in the Toy Rotation. There is one bin per type of toy: a bin for animals, cars, instruments, etc. This helps kiddos focus on what is available; decreases the amount of visual clutter for kids and grownups; makes the space easier to clean up; and infuses novelty into old toys... so you purchase fewer!

The Toy Rotation is a system that organizes toys into two groups: stock (what's out of rotation) and active (what's in rotation). The toys in the toy hub and playroom are a mere selection of the overall collection. A successful rotation reinvigorates stale play with toys a family already owns and leads to more productive, sustained play. Children may have developed new skills or ways of thinking since they last saw a toy and will now play with it in a different way!
